Imraan Manack has joined Horspath |
Described as a towering off-spinner, Manack has 28 first-class appearances under his belt, taking 51 wickets at an average of 35.90.
His best figures of 5-78 came on his debut for Easterns against Border at East London in 2013. By coincidence, he was dismissed by Darryl Brown, who made a big impact as Horspath's overseas player in 2018 and 2019, before gaining his revenge by including the all-rounder in his haul.
Now with Boland Rocks, he has also scored 509 first-class runs.
Manack has made his mark in white-ball cricket too, picking up 57 List A wickets, with best figures of 4-48. He was the leading wicket-taker for Easterns in the 2018-19 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge with 22 victims in nine matches.
Last season he was named the Momentum One Day Cup Player of the Year after emerging as the joint wicket-taker with eight victims at 28.75 for the Cape Cobras.
He has been seen to good effect in the shortest form of the game as well, being named joint player of the match as Boland beat Titans by 15 runs in the CSA T20 Challenge Final at Port Elizabeth last month.
Opening the bowling, he took 2-14 from his four overs - including the key wicket of Quinton de Kock - to help bring his side victory.
Manack has also earned national recognition with South African Invitation selection, playing England in two matches, including bagging the prize wicket of Eoin Morgan in early 2020.
He was also a big performer in Tshwane Spartans' run to the Mzansi Super League Final in 2019 and in the Easterns Africa T20 Cup in 2018 and One Day Cup in 2019-20.
He has had two previous stints in the UK. Playing for Hornchurch in the Essex League, he took 28 wickets in 2nd XI Division 1 at an average of 11.11 with best figures of 5-41, while hitting 424 runs at an average of 84.80, including four fifties with a highest score of 78 not out.
In his only 1st XI game, he made 65 against Colchester & East Essex, while bowling a tidy spell of 10 overs for 30 runs without success.
In 2019, he shone for Eckington in the Derbyshire League Premier Division, picking up 27 wickets at an average of 23.59 with best figures of 4-41. He also made 451 runs at an average of 45.10, including four half-centuries and a top score of 78.
An accredited CSA Level 2 coach, Manack is now gearing up to join Horspath with director of cricket Will Eason looking forward to having him on board.
Will said: "I'm delighted to welcome Imraan to our club for the 2022 season. Having already played in the UK previously, this was a major factor in why we were keen to get him on board. He is at a great age in terms of his own development, as well as adding some experience to our group.
"He was recommended to us by several people, highlighting his improvement particularly in the shorter format of the game over the last few years, and being a valuable member of the squads he is part of in South Africa."
