Dore shines before Wharton and Berry snatch thrilling win

YOUNG Owen Dore took 6-30 before skipper Craig Wharton and the experienced Stuart Berry shared an unbroken last-wicket stand of 29 to give Horspath 4th a thrilling one-wicket win over Witney Swifts 2nd in Cherwell League Division 6B at West Witney.

Owen Dore starred with 6-30
Dore's superb haul - the league's second-best bowling figures of the weekend - sent Swifts tumbling to 131 all out after they had elected to bat.

Berry (2-11) provided good support, while Shreyas Anand and Hadi Ali picked up a wicket apiece as opener Jason Seacole (40) and Josh Bishop (29) contributed the bulk of Swifts' total.

However, Horspath also found runs hard to come by and were on the brink of defeat at 104-9 as Andy Purdie took 3-18 and Ben Horne 3-25 put Swifts in charge. But then Wharton (48no) and Berry (11no) dug deep to keep the home side at bay and steer Horspath to victory at 133-9.
