Horspath 4th rewrite record books with massive 346-5

HORSPATH 4th set a club record highest score in the Cherwell League with a massive 346-5 in a 268-run win at Shipton-under-Wychwood 3rd in Tier 5A.

Tejas Anand
made 68
Captain Jamie Stead (77no), Tejas Anand (68), Paul Hicks (53), Jonty Hedges (50) and Rayaan Dogar (47) peppered some short boundaries to post the biggest total by any side in the league this summer after electing to bat.

The visitors raced past the club's previous best score of 307-6 that Horspath 2nd racked up against Aston Rowant 2nd in Division 2 in 2018. Their total, which came off 40 overs, also eclipsed the 330-3 that Brackley made against Great Brickhill 2nd in Tier 2B this season.

Openers Anand, who blasted five fours and five sixes in his 44-ball knock, and Hedges, with four boundaries and three maximums in his 38-ball stay, set the tone for Horspath's batting bonanza. Hicks, whose runs came off 48 deliveries with five fours and a six, continued the run spree with Dogar, before Stead, with four boundaries and six maximums in a whirlwind 34 balls, and Dan Todd (25no) ensured the innings finished in style.

Shipton then succumbed for 78 with Ed Oakley (4-9) and Shreyas Anand (3-10) the chief destroyers after both openers were run out, while Dogar picked up the other wicket to fall and Jamie Hicks took three catches.

The victory kept Horspath top of the section - four points ahead of Abingdon Vale 3rd, who they visit in the group's final game next Saturday.
