Horspath 2nd finish runners-up following comfortable success

HORSPATH 2nd finished runners-up in Cherwell League Tier 2B following a four-wicket win at home to Long Marston 2nd.

Sam Payce (4-8) and Asad Rafiq (3-34) were the chief destroyers as Long Marston were bowled out for 135 after electing to bat. Charlie Turner picked up 2-23, and there was also a wicket for Sulaiman Hussain, while Edward Robinson (38) top-scored for the visitors.

Hussain got Horspath's run chase off to a brisk start with 17 off 12 balls, before Max Smith (44) and Rafiq (36) shared a second-wicket stand of 86. A mini-collapse followed with five wickets going down for 21 runs as James Beesley took 3-21, before Josh Richardson and stand-in skipper Mohson Rana saw Horspath home at 138-6 off just 21.5 overs.

Horspath now visit Tier 2A runners-up Minster Lovell next Saturday.
