Oakley's overjoyed by first career half-century

ED Oakley celebrated his maiden career half-century in Horspath 3rd's 78-run defeat at Tiddington 2nd in Cherwell League Division 4.

Batting No 8, the 38-year-old seamer made 50 off 49 balls with eight fours as Horspath were bowled out for 149 in reply to Tiddington 227-9 after putting the hosts in to bat. Tiddington's successful bowlers were Ellie Noble (3-21), William Johnson-Coleman (3-29) and Jacob Davis (3-47).

Earlier, Josh Cummings had shone with the ball for Horspath to record 4-39 from his ten overs as Tiddington opener Colin Bird provided the backbone of his side's innings with 100 from 135 balls, which contained ten fours and a six. Owen Dore picked up 2-26 and Adrian Manger 2-47 against his old club, with Oakley (1-40) the other wicket-taker.

Horspath 2nd slipped to a four-wicket defeat at Division 2 leaders Cropredy.

Stuart Berry (38) top-scored as Horspath were held to 184-8 after being put in to bat with Josh Maynard (3-23) among the wickets for the hosts. Despite the efforts of Josh Richardson (3-29) and Berry (3-43), Cropredy then eased to 185-6 with Joe Haynes (50) and Siam Hussain (38) leading the way.
