High fives for Horspath with T20 triumph

HORSPATH made it five wins out of five in the Bernard Tollett Oxfordshire Cup South Group with a seven-wicket home victory over Thame Town.

Having bowled Thame out for 132 after the visitors chose to bat in the T20 encounter, Horspath got home with four balls to spare to stay top of the section and remain firmly on course for finals day at Wormsley.

Will Sutcliffe got Thame off to a flying start with 50 from 28 balls, which included two sixes and seven fours. But after he was the first to fall with the score on 71 - run out by Swapnil Kulkarni - Thame collapsed in spectacular fashion. The visitors lost their last seven wickets for just 14 runs, with Lloyd Belcher (2-41), Kulkarni (1-4), Darryl Brown (1-10), Will Eason (1-15) and Jamil Faruq (1-27) doing the damage, before James Fitzjohn (3-5) mopped up the tail.

Horspath made a fine start to their run chase with Tom Coleman, who hit 45 from 43 deliveries, and Shahbaz Ali (21) putting on 76 for the first wicket. Fitzjohn smashed the innings' only six in a quickfire 14, before Brown (17no) and Stephen Green (14no) saw Horspath home. Needing three to win off the final over bowled by James Adams, Brown swept the second delivery for four to clinch victory.

Horspath will bid to make it six of the best in the competition when they host Tiddington next week.
