Roberts hits ton as Horspath 3rd sink leaders

ANDY Roberts hit a superb century in Horspath 3rd's crushing 191-run victory at leaders Cropredy 2nd in Cherwell League Division 5.

Roberts hammered 114 to take Horspath to 276-5 after they had been put in to bat, with Nigel Coltman (34) and Craig Wharton (32) providing the supporting roles. Ed Oakley (5-27) and Ceri Holmes (5-54) then produced impressive spells as Cropredy were shot out for 89. The win moves Horspath up to third place.

Horspath 2nd slipped to a seven-wicket defeat at leaders Westbury in Division 2. Choosing to bat first, Horspath were restricted to 200-5 after finding it hard to get on top of the home attack.

Will Robertson top-scored with 49, while there were also steady contributions from Mark Skelton (34) and opener Tom Beresford (29), before Will Hawtin (37no) and Tyrone Eyles, with an unbeaten 14 off six balls, stepped up the pace.

Westbury always looked in control of the run chase, with Tom Gurney (79) and William Gurney (54) laying the foundations for Tom Wilson (41no) to steer them to 202-3. Jehan Mohammed returned 2-48 for Horspath, with Ryan Hicks picking up 1-20.

Luke Heritage hit an unbeaten half-century in Horspath 4th's draw at home to Westbury 2nd in Division 7. His 53 not out took Horspath to 161-6 in reply to Westbury's 251-4 after the visitors had been put in to bat. Opener John Perkins made 32, while Charlie Tredwell took 3-57 for Westbury.

Earlier, Andy Cummings, with 1-35 from 15 overs, had been the pick of the Horspath attack as Richard Tredwell (92) and Andrew Lees (65) shone for Westbury.
