Horspath bow out of Club Championship

HORSPATH'S run in the Royal London Club Championship came to an end with a 147-run defeat at High Wycombe in the third round.

Horspath, who fielded five of the side which had drawn at Henley the previous day, found Dan Marles (133) and Eliot Callis (126) in imperious form as they set High Wycombe on the way to a massive 342-3 off 40 overs after electing to bat first.

The second-wicket pair shared a stand of 231 before Callis, who has played two first-class games for Yorkshire, was caught and bowled by Jehan Mohammed. His runs came off 103 balls with two sixes and 16 fours. Marles hit four sixes and 17 boundaries in his 94-ball innings, before becoming Liam Manley's second victim after High Wycombe had passed the 300-mark.

Tom Coleman, who made 63 from 62 balls with nine fours, and Tom Beresford (32) got Horspath's run chase off to a brisk start with an opening stand of 99, but once they were parted wickets fells at regular intervals. Skipper Will Eason made 25 and Tyrone Eyles 21, before Horspath closed on 195-9, with Adam Dobb taking 4-34 and Aashir Zaib 3-21.
