Both the 1st and 2nd teams could be pleased with the start they made on Saturday with two very competitive friendlies against Great Tew. At the RecTew batted first whilst nobody played a dominant innings there were useful contributions from Woodwood,Clark; Slatter and a top scoring 37* from Hubbert as Tew posted a competitive 192 - 7 in their 50 overs.Horspath could be very satisfied with their performance in the field with Millie being particularly impressive in taking three early wickets for 18. Lloyd chipped in with 2 and their was one each for Jehan and Skelley In reply Horspath's top order batters looked understandably rusty and at 55-4 victory looked unlikely. However, a fine attacking stand of 75 between Pricey who blasted 64, including 3 sixes and 5 fours and Skelley with 38* including 1 six and 5 fours took Horspath close to victory. There was a further clatter of wickets before Skelley and Lloyd saw Horspath home with 5 overs to spare Rain affected the away fixture between the respective 2nd elevens at Tew. Lioyd Brock with a fine century put the Horspath bowling to the sword as Tew compiled an impressive 260 in 46 overs with only Ryan Hicks with an excellent opening spell escaping. In reply Horspath's top order fell away to 80-6 before a magnificent 97* from Asad Rafiq most ably supported by 57 from Eddie Oakley took Horspath to within 12 runs of the Tew total with two wickets standing as the game concluded after 42 overs
