Change at the Top

Ed Murray
After eight years at the helm of Horspath Cricket Club, Ed Murray stepped down from the role of Chairman at last night’s AGM.  Ed has steered the Club since 2004 when it reformed following the parting of the ways with Oxford CC. The success of his and Pip's ‘Shotover Brewery’ has put such a pressure on his time that he rightly feels this is the moment to pass on the baton.

During his years as Chairman, the Club has evolved from 2 teams playing in Divisions 5 and 9 of the Cherwell League to 4 teams currently playing in Divisions 1, 4, 5 & 8.  He has also overseen
the creation of a second ground and the large scale provision of facilities and equipment to support the Adult and Youth sections. At the same time there has been a great increase in the social membership of the Club, something that was always dear to his heart. The early days of the reformed Club were particularly turbulent, and it has not always been plain sailing. The Club will always be grateful for his drive and wise council.

Taking over the baton from Ed was always going to be a difficult task, so the Club have been extremely fortunate to have persuaded Peter Walker to assume that role. The generous support that Peter has provided to the Club since 2004 has been integral to its development and success. Peter will bring a vast wealth of experience to the role and will be pressing hard down on the accelerator pedal to ensure the Club keeps moving forward.
