Horspath 3rd reel off third straight win in a thriller

HORSPATH 3rd made it three straight wins in Cherwell League Division 3A with a thrilling one-wicket victory at home to Stokenchurch.

Having bowled out the visitors for 198, Horspath edged home at 201-9 with Ed Oakley (13no) and Josh Cummings at the crease.

Dan Todd shone with 56

Opener Dan Todd had set the home side on the way with 56 off 68 balls, which included 10 fours, before the hosts were pegged back.

Skipper Ryan Hicks (36) and Chris Jones (32) got Horspath back on track, but wickets tumbled to Arshad Latif (4-48), and it took the last pair to see the home side over the line off the first ball of the 50th over. 

Earlier, Stuart Berry had taken 4-24 to hold Stokenchurch in check. 

His haul included opener Syed Kazmi, who smashed 50 from 39 deliveries with nine fours and a six, and Hasnain Arshad (33).

Alex Jackson (2-39) and Oakley (2-58) were also among the wickets.

The win moves the side up to eighth place.
