JASON Cardy hit his first half-century for Horspath 2nd to set up a 76-run win at home to Sandford St Martin in Cherwell League Division 2.

Coming to the crease with Horspath in trouble at 28-3, he turned the innings round, hitting 11 fours in his 69-ball stay, supported by Tom Betts.

Following Cardy's departure, Mohson Rana (35) steered the home side to their final total as the wickets were shared around, with Richard Murrey (2-30) the pick of the visitors' attack.

New signing Suban Javaid (3-48), from Oxford Brookes University, and Andy Cummings (2-27) then reduced Sandford to 51-5.

Joe Gibbs (4-9) and Joey Todd (1-26), making a welcome return to the club following a spell in New Zealand, made sure there was no way back for the visitors, who collapsed to 111 all out despite Chris Thompson making 40.

It was the side's first win under new skipper Max Smith, moving them up to fourth place in the table.

Horspath 3rd suffered a 201-run defeat at Westcott in Division 3A.

The hosts racked up 277 after electing to bat with Tanveer Hussain (88) leading the way, before the visitors tumbled to 76 all out.

Josh Cummings produced another fine opening display with the ball to remove both Westcott openers in figures of 2-18 from seven overs. But then Hussain took charge, hitting 12 fours and a six in his 131-ball stay, with Westcott's total boosted by a massive 69 extras, including 50 wides, as Alimar Khan (28) was the next highest scorer.

Ed Oakley took 2-30 from 10 overs, while Hadi Ali (2-38) and Stuart Berry (2-47) were also among the wickets.

Horspath were never in the hunt in reply. Stand-in skipper Dan Todd (22) top-scored as Waqas Ur-Rehman (4-23) and Nick Thomas (4-34) swept through the order.

Horspath 4th fell to a nine-wicket defeat at home to Radley in Division 5C.

Chris Jones hit a defiant 45 as Horspath subsided to 94 all out after choosing to bat, with Ali Malik (3-13) and Malik Sagher Salim (3-30) doing the damage.

Radley then raced to victory at 95-1 off just 9.5 overs with Ashley Pike smashing an unbeaten 62.
