Horspath 3rd & 4th promoted in Cherwell League shake-up

HORSPATH'S 3rd and 4th XIs have been promoted following a restructuring of the Cherwell League.

The introduction of an extra division at the third tier has seen the 3rd XI going up to Division 3A from Division 4A where they finished fifth last season, while the 4th XI, who finished fourth in Division 6B, are promoted to Division 5C.

New division in Tier 3
Both sides will face seven 1st XIs, with the 3rd XI's opponents including Wolverton Town, who were relegated from Division 2 last season, and Division 4A champions Great Brickhill 2nd.

The 4th XI will renew rivalry with Radley, who finished runners-up in Division 6B, and East Oxford 2nd, who came third in the same section, as well as taking on Dorchester and Wantage & Grove, who filled the top two places in Division 6C.

Meanwhile, the 2nd XI will once again do battle in Division 2 where they finished fifth last season. New opponents for 2022 are Abingdon Vale, who were relegated from Division 1, plus Brackley and East Oxford, the two promoted teams from Division 3.

The league hope to publish the fixtures by the end of the year, with the season starting on May 7 and finishing on September 3.
