Horspath hope for third time lucky with Downs opener

HORSPATH will be hoping it's third time lucky after being handed a home game against Oxford Downs in Home Counties Premier League Division 2's opening round of matches next season.

The league fixtures get under way on May 7
The club had been due to host the corresponding fixture on the first Saturday of May for the last two years only for the game to fall victim to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and then be washed out without a ball being bowled last season.

On the second weekend, Horspath are away to Wargrave, before entertaining Thame Town - who were relegated from Division 1 last term - on week three.

Horspath visit Tring Park, the other side who came down from the top flight, the following week, while they travel to Cherwell League champions Cumnor on week six. The campaign ends with a home game against Great Brickhill on September 3.

The league season will be preceded by the first two rounds of the Home Counties T20 competition on April 30, with the draw and venues to be arranged in February.
