Rana rolls back the years in Horspath 3rd's triumph

MOHSON Rana rolled back the years with a five-wicket haul to set Horspath 3rd up for an exciting two-wicket win at home to Bledlow Ridge in Cherwell League Division 4A.

Rana, who holds the record for the club's best bowling figures in the Home Counties Premier League with 7-31 against Falkland in 2014, took 5-60 as Ridge posted 174 all out after being put in to bat. 

He was well supported by Jason Cardy (3-48), while wicket-keeper Dan Jones claimed four victims with Junaid Ahmed (35) top-scoring for the visitors. 

Chris Batten (25) and Rayaan Dogar (23) made handy contributions to set Horspath on the way to their target, before Jones upped the tempo with 32 off 27 balls. 

The hosts were pegged back by Matthew Brightwell (4-34), but skipper Jamie Stead saw Horspath home with an unbeaten 42 from 30 deliveries, while Andy Cummings clinched victory at 175-8 in style with a six over mid-wicket. 

Horspath 4th maintained their promotion push in Division 6B with a five-wicket win over Oxford Downs 3rd at Cokethorpe School, Witney. 

The home side were shot out for 85 after choosing to bat with Stuart Berry (4-30) the chief destroyer. Arsalan Khattak picked up 3-29, Euan Barrett 2-5 and Josh Cummings 1-16.

In reply, Horspath lost early wickets to Thomas Gould (4-30), before George Crawford hit an unbeaten 37 as they raced to victory at 86-5 off 16.3 overs. 

The win keeps Horspath in third place - 20 points ahead of East Oxford 2nd - with the top three teams promoted to tier 5.
