Midday monsoon leaves Horspath frustrated

RAIN washed out Horspath's Home Counties Premier League Division 2 clash at home to Wargrave with just 3.5 overs of play possible.

Horspath's game was washed out
The visitors were 11-1 after being put in to bat in seamer-friendly conditions when the Recreation Ground was hit by a huge downpour.

Anupam Sanklecha, the division's leading wicket-taker, had made the breakthrough with Sam Warren edging his fifth delivery to give Dom O'Connor a comfortable catch at third slip. But the midday monsoon followed by further rain meant the game had to be abandoned.

Horspath now stand eighth in the table with five games left, starting with a trip to third-placed Amersham next Saturday.
