Khattak's maiden half-century keeps Horspath 4th on track

ARSALAN Khattak cracked a maiden Cherwell League half-century with a hard-hit 76 in Horspath 4th's 86-run victory at home to Witney Mills 2nd in Division 6B.

Khattak hammered 11 fours and two sixes in his 48-ball knock as Horspath rattled up 273-8 - coincidentally the same total as the 1st XI posted against Burnham on the main pitch - after choosing to bat.

Big win
He shared a sixth-wicket stand of 81 with Joe Gibbs (45) after Jonty Hedges had earlier made 40, while stand-in skipper Nigel Coltman chipped in with 28. Steve Kelly (3-45) was Mills' most successful bowler.

Horspath's bowlers then kept a tight rein on Mills with Shreyas Anand (3-20) and Josh Cummings (2-40) doing the early damage.

Stuart Berry (3-31) ensured there was no way back for the visitors from 85-6 with Mills eventually 187 all out, despite Chaminda Wimalarathna making 58.

The win keeps Horspath in third place, with the top three sides being promoted to tier 5.
