Double delight for Horspath 4th with excellent brace of wins

HORSPATH 4th enjoyed an excellent weekend with wins at leaders Radley in Cherwell League Division 6B and at Brill in their Steve Dixon Memorial Cup quarter-final.

Christopher Hofen hit 56
Shreyas Anand took two wickets with his last over for the second week running to secure a 61-run victory away to Radley on Saturday.

Anand, whose final-over heroics earned the side a thrilling draw with the scores level at home to Oxenford 2nd a week earlier, repeated the feat to finish with 3-23 and send Radley crashing to 138 all out.

Euan Barrett (2-19), Ryan Hicks (2-24) - who also pulled off two run outs - and Josh Cummings (1-29) impressed too. Ashley Pike (48) top-scored for the hosts.

Horspath had earlier posted 199 after being put in to bat. Opener Christopher Hofen hit his second half-century of the season with 56.

He put on 82 for the first wicket with Nigel Coltman (48), before Atif Liaquat (6-49) pegged the visitors back. The win sees Horspath move up to third.

Horspath made it double delight with a six-wicket win away to Brill on Sunday.

Craig Wharton's youthful side restricted Brill to 141-9 after they had chosen to bat, with Barrett taking 4-25. Hicks (2-11), Shreyas Anand (1-20) and Hadi Ali (1-28) also picked up wickets during tidy spells as Jonathan Parke (37) attempted to hold Brill together.

Rayaan Dogar then hit an unbeaten 60 as Horspath raced to victory at 143-4 off 24 overs. He shared a third-wicket stand of 53 with Tejas Anand (48) before going on to clinch the win.

Horspath are now at home to Risinghurst in the semi-finals, while Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts 2nd entertain Witney Swifts 2nd.
