Turner works his magic again in Horspath's Oxon Cup win

ALFIE Turner claimed his second successive four-wicket haul in Bernard Tollett Oxfordshire Cup Pool 3 as Horspath made it three wins out of three with a nine-wicket thrashing of Oxenford at the Recreation Ground.

The teenage off-spinner followed up his 4-11 at Didcot seven days earlier by taking 4-12 to polish off Oxenford for 99 in the 18th over after they had elected to bat.

Turner was well supported in the field by Sulaiman Hussain, who took three fine catches off his bowling in the deep.

Paceman Anupam Sanklecha (2-10) had done the early damage with both of his victims clean bowled - the first trimming the stumps so precisely and at such speed that it sent a bail flying over the boundary.

Skipper Lloyd Belcher chipped in with 2-17 and there was a wicket apiece for Mohson Rana and Luke Heritage, while opener Ayyaz Mallick (24) top-scored for Oxenford.

Horspath made short work of the target with Elliot Ruff and Asad Rafiq knocking the runs off from just nine overs as the home side raced to 102-1.

Ruff struck the ball crisply for an unbeaten 40 off 23 balls, which included six fours and a six, while Rafiq ratcheted up the pace to finish on 37 not out from 26 deliveries with five boundaries and a maximum.

The pair tucked into the Oxenford bowling in an unbroken second-wicket stand of 90 with Rafiq sealing the victory in style by blasting a four through the covers.

Horspath are due to continue their group games at home to Oxford next Tuesday.
