There was a blow, though, for Horspath with skipper Craig Wharton pulling a hamstring while batting, which forced him to retire hurt. Benjamin Denton picked up 3-41 for the visitors.
However, the home side's big total proved insufficient as Downs raced to 268-3 off 39.2 overs with Andrew Thomas (119) leading the run chase. His century featured 18 fours and two sixes, with good support provided by Alex Wildman (62) and Tom Ling (33).
Meanwhile, the 4th XI were handed a walkover in the Steve Dixon Memorial Cup after Steventon conceded the first-round tie. Horspath are now due to be away to Brill in the quarter-final on June 20.
