Eason's battling knock is in vain for Horspath 2nd

ROBBIE Eason's gritty half-century couldn't save Horspath 2nd from a seven-wicket defeat at Aston Rowant 2nd in Cherwell League Division 2.

Eason made 76 from 146 balls with eight fours and a six as Horspath posted 163-6 after being put in to bat.

He shared a stand of 74 for the second-wicket with Jehan Mohammed (27), but the visitors were unable to get on top of an accurate home attack with Tristian Rossouw (2-26) the most successful bowler.

Rowant then coasted to victory at 166-3, with George Reid (73no) and William Pendered (69) sharing a second-wicket stand of 151.

Horspath 4th got back to winning ways with a four-wicket victory at home to East Oxford 2nd in Division 6B.

Having put the visitors in to bat, Joe Gibbs (4-27) and Tim Henry (3-11) worked their way through the East Oxford order after father-and-son Andy (2-25) and Josh Cummings (1-25) had made good use of the new ball. Amir Butt (42) top-scored for East Oxford.

George Crawford (46) and Christopher Hofen (27) then set Horspath on the way to victory at 112-6 as Tayab Alam took 3-43.

Horspath 3rd's match at Long Marston 2nd in Division 4A was abandoned without a ball being bowled following Friday's heavy rain.
