Stoyle smashes stunning ton in Horspath's friendly victory

WILLIAM Stoyle lit up the Recreation Ground with a brilliant century as Horspath defeated Kidmore End by 16 runs in a friendly on Sunday.

Stoyle smashed 127 off 100 balls before his marvellous innings finally came to an end when he was run out. His terrific knock, which included 14 fours and five sixes, took Horspath to 245 all out, with Craig Wharton making 45. 

Josh Cummings struck two early blows in Kidmore End's reply, before Hadi Ali chipped in with 4-40, and the visitors were indebted to an unbeaten 71 from Ollie Corbett as they fell short on 229-9. 

Ryan Hicks's unbeaten 50 proved in vain as Horspath 3rd went down by 62 runs at home to Oxford University 3rd in a friendly on Saturday.

Chasing the students' 221-6 off 40 overs, the home side were bowled out for 159, but not before Hicks reached his half-century from 51 balls with six fours and two sixes. Earlier, Dougal Main (82no) and Louis Odgers (68) shared a partnership of 129 for the University's sixth wicket as Ed Oakley took 3-27 and Joe Gibbs 2-29.
