RAIN brought an early end to Horspath 3rd's game at Aston Rowant 3rd in Cherwell League Division 4A with the visitors up against it in a low-scoring encounter.
Horspath had bowled well to send Rowant tumbling to 111 all out, with Erasmus Du Toit (3-19) and Ross Handley (3-23) the chief destroyers as wicket-keeper Dan Jones took five catches. The home side were indebted to tailender Paul Plumridge (28no) for their final total after being in dire straits at 54-7.
But Horspath then crashed to 17-6. Adrian Manger and skipper Jamie Stead stood firm to take the score to 30-6 when the heavens opened causing the match to be abandoned. Tim Foster (3-4) and Carrick Dunbar (2-23) did the damage for Rowant.
Horspath 2nd and Horspath 4th's games were abandoned without a ball being bowled on Saturday - with the same fate befalling the 3rd and 4th XI's cup games on Sunday.
