Horspath return to action with attractive friendly matches

CRICKET is back at the Recreation Ground this weekend with Horspath hosting three friendly matches. 

The 1st XI, led by Lloyd Belcher, open up with an attractive encounter against local rivals Oxford on Saturday (1pm).

Stumps are back out!

The side includes new signing Elliot Ruff, a batsman from Northamptonshire League Premier outfit Horton House, and all-rounder Patrick Foster, who makes a welcome return to the club. 

Zimbabwean opening batsman Pete Ades also features, while the club's homegrown talent is highlighted again as teenage brothers Alfie and Charlie Turner line up alongside each other. 

The 2nd XI, meanwhile, with Alex Thomas at the helm this season, take on Cookham Dean 2nd on the back pitch (1pm). The 3rd XI, under Jamie Stead's captaincy, are away to Reading Lions (1pm). 

Horspath are in action again on Sunday when they host Finchley, starting at 12noon. The Middlesex League Premier Division club have already been out in the middle this season, beating Cambridge University by 31 runs with opener Will Leggett hitting an unbeaten 165.
