Rafiq and O'Connor shine as Horspath 2nd sign off in style

A FINE all-round display from Asad Rafiq and Dominic O'Connor's unbeaten 80 saw Horspath 2nd post an emphatic eight-wicket win at Minster Lovell in the Cherwell League play-off between the Tier 2A and 2B runners-up.

Rafiq ripped through Minster's top order with 4-20 as the home side crashed to 36-5 after being put in to bat.

James Mattinson led the hosts' fightback with 62 off 53 balls, which included four boundaries and four sixes, but with Sulaiman Hussain (2-25), Luke Heritage (2-41) and Charlie Turner (2-42) also among the wickets, Minster were bowled out for 166.

O'Connor then hit 11 fours in his 103-ball knock to take Horspath to victory at 167-2 with five overs to spare.

The left-handed opener shared a second-wicket stand of 56 with Rob Wight, before an unbroken partnership of 79 with Rafiq (34no) for the third wicket saw the visitors home.
