HORSPATH 2nd slipped to a two-wicket defeat in a last-ball thriller at home to bottom club Minster Lovell in Cherwell League Division 2.

Having been put in to bat, Horspath posted 167 all out with opener Tom Beresford (30) top-scoring. The home side had been well set at 101-2 with Robbie Eason and Cameron Dockerill both making 27, but the innings fell away with the last eight wickets going for 66 runs as left-arm spinner Harry Ebsworth took 5-35.

Horspath looked to be in the driving seat as Minster slumped to 96-7 after opener Nathan Harris made 31 as paceman Asad Rafiq (3-13) and off-spinner Alfie Turner (3-24) returned impressive figures from their ten overs. But then James Merriman (35) and Leigh Smith (22no) added 57 for the eighth wicket to boost Minster's hopes.

Needing nine to win off the last over, the visitors picked up four singles and a boundary to tie the scores before Elliott Crowther hit the last delivery for four to give Minster victory at 171-8. Leg-spinner Josh Richardson (1-30) and seamer Tyrone Eyles (1-45) were the other Horspath wicket-takers.

An impressive bowling display set up Horspath 3rd for an emphatic nine-wicket win at home to Charlbury in Division 4.

Charlbury were rolled over for 99 after being put in to bat, with Andy Cummings, who returned exemplary figures of 2-10 from ten overs, and Ceri Holmes (2-38) doing the early damage. It was then left to Adrian Manger (3-10) and Ryan Hicks (3-20) to polish the visitors off.

Opener Henry Wilkinson made sure there were no slip ups by hitting an unbeaten 36 to see Horspath to an easy victory.

Youngsters Josh Cummings (4-10) and Eliot Ward (3-13) combined to help Horspath 4th secure a 79-run win at bottom club Aston Rowant 4th in Division 7.

They led the way with the ball as Rowant were shot out for 52. Earlier, Horspath had made 131 all out after being put in to bat, with Hayden Moon (44) and Paul Hicks (31) the main contributors.
