Horspath 2nd collapse in spectacular style

HORSPATH 2nd collapsed in spectacular fashion as they suffered an 82-run defeat at Wolverton Town in Cherwell League Division 2.

Chasing Wolverton's 164 all out after putting the hosts in to bat, Horspath crashed to 35-8 with Idrees Butt (5-21) and Malik (3-26) doing the damage. It was only a defiant 25 from Alfie Turner which saw them to their final total of 82 all out.

Earlier, left-arm seamer Liam Manley (3-48) made the early inroads into the Wolverton batting before off-spinners Swapnil Kulkarni (3-14) and Turner (2-43) wrapped up the innings. Tailender Haroon Malik (34) top-scored for Wolverton.

Horspath 3rd's batting also failed to fire as they lost a low-scoring Division 4 encounter by 22 runs at home to Bletchley Town.

Stuart Berry (3-21), Josh Richardson (3-34) and Ed Oakley (2-15) shone with the ball as Bletchley were bowled out for 112 after electing to bat with only Zaheer Khan (31no) providing any resistance. But then Horspath collapsed to 90 all out with Rizwan Ashraf (5-30) and Ricardo Brown (3-39) wreaking havoc.

Young George Crawford made 42 as Horspath 4th battled to a draw at Minster Lovell 2nd in Division 7.

His runs came in Horspath's reply of 117-7 as Ben Spencer picked up 4-18 after Minster Lovell had posted 232-7 after being put in to bat. Wes Spearman (53) and Sean Hubbert (39) led the way in Minster's innings.
