Abbas and Thomas star in Horspath 4th victory

FAIZAAN Abbas and Alex Thomas hit half-centuries to set Horspath 4th on the way to a resounding 114-run win over Oxford Downs 3rd in Cherwell League Division 7 at Cokethorpe School.

Abbas made 78 from 100 balls with eight fours, while Thomas cracked 57 from 60 deliveries with eight boundaries as Horspath rattled up 239-5 from 45 overs after being put in to bat. The pair shared a fourth-wicket stand of 146, before both fell to Peter Bello (3-41). Earlier, opener Luke Finch made 31.

Downs were then bowled out for 125 despite a rapid 37 from opener Alex Bellinie. Ben Foster (4-41) did the early damage, while Robin Pykett (2-18) applied the brakes and Jonathan Hedges (3-8) wrapped up the innings.
