| Tom Coleman hit 85 not out |
Chasing Chesham's 183-7 off 40 overs after the hosts had elected to bat, Coleman made an unbeaten 85 from 87 balls to see Horspath home.
His innings included 12 fours and two sixes as he shared an opening stand of 134 with Phillips, who hammered 73 from 60 deliveries with ten boundaries and two maximums. New signing Jay Parmar (17no) then joined Coleman to secure victory at 187-1 with 10.3 overs to spare.
Earlier, openers Andy Goddard and Matthew Rance had put on 73 for Chesham's first wicket, before Darryl Brown made the breakthrough when he had the latter caught behind by Robbie Eason for 38. Parmar then picked up two victims with his off-spin and there was one for paceman Asad Rafiq, before off-spinner Tom Cosford took three wickets, including Goddard for 86, in the final overs to finish with 3-30.
Horspath are now away to Middlesex side Stanmore, who beat Uxbridge by seven wickets, in the second round on May 12.
Horspath also advanced in the Cricketer Village Cup first round with a 99-run home win over Kingston Bagpuize. The hosts posted 203-6, before bowling out Kingston for 104.
Meanwhile, Darryl Brown hit a superb 120 in Horspath's 75-run victory at Cookham Dean in their final pre-season game on Saturday.
