Young Harvey hammers 81 for Horspath 4th

HARVEY Shorter starred with an excellent 81 before promotion-chasing Horspath 4th's Cherwell League Division 7 game at home to Aston Rowant 4th was abandoned due to rain.

The youngster's first half-century provided the backbone of Horspath's 237 all out, with Mike Naylor making 46 and Paul Hicks 31 as Marc Livington (5-23) and Paul Humphreys (3-55) led the way for the visitors.

Rowant were 86-1 off 17 overs with Saif Dogar picking up the only wicket to fall when a deluge forced the game to be called off. Jonathan Atkins was unbeaten on 34. The result sees Horspath remain second level on points with Westbury 2nd, who they visit next Saturday.
