Beresford and Eyles hit tons in 2nd's big victory

TOM Beresford and Tyrone Eyles hammered superb centuries in Horspath 2nd's crushing 154-run home win over Aston Rowant 2nd in Cherwell League Division 2.

Their terrific knocks took Horspath to a massive 307-6 dec after being put in to bat, before skittling Rowant for 153. Opener Beresford made a composed 105 from 129 deliveries with 16 fours, before Eyles took the Rowant attack apart with a whirlwind unbeaten 101 off just 59 balls with six sixes and nine boundaries.

They shared a sixth-wicket stand of 120, with Beresford going to three figures with a single through the offside, while Eyles brought up his century with three runs down to fine leg. Skipper Dom O'Connor and Jehan Mohammed chipped in with 29 apiece, while Chris Leaney took 3-105 for Rowant.

The visitors were never in the hunt as Eyles, Mohson Rana and Asad Rafiq took a wicket apiece to reduce them to 81-3. Mohammed (3-16) and James Stacey (3-17) then wrapped up a resounding victory, which moves Horspath up to third.

Horspath 3rd slumped to a five-wicket defeat at home to bottom club Dinton 2nd in Division 5. The hosts were shot out for 138 after being put in to bat, before Dinton secured victory at 142-5, with Rehman making 57. Despite the defeat, Horspath remain fourth in the table.

John Perkins and Carl Thompson hit half-centuries as Horspath 4th moved up to second in Division 7 with a convincing eight-wicket win at Aston Rowant 4th. Having restricted Rowant to 150-6 after putting them in to bat, Horspath cruised to 151-2 with Perkins (58) and Thompson (51) leading the way. Earlier, Stuart Berry had taken 3-44 in Rowant's innings.
