O'Connor leads Horspath 2nd to first victory

SKIPPER Dom O'Connor hit a patient half-century as Horspath 2nd posted their first win of the season with a five-wicket victory at Wolverton Town in Cherwell League Division 2.

After inserting Wolverton and seeing his attack bowl the hosts out for 161, O'Connor set Horspath on the way to victory at 167-5 with 56 from 112 balls, which included seven fours. The visitors were aided by 45 extras.

Earlier, Mohson Rana (3-21) and George Horsley (3-32) shone with the ball for Horspath. Asad Rafiq (2-28) and Jehan Mohammed (1-33) also got among the wickets as Aky Hussain (45) and Chris King (39) provided the backbone of Wolverton's innings. The win takes Horspath up to third.

Adam Thompson (56) and young Alfie Turner (48) shone in Horspath 3rd's seven-wicket defeat at Didcot 2nd in Division 5. They led the way as Horspath posted 195-9 after electing to bat. However, it wasn't enough as Will Woodley hit 100 to take Didcot to 198-3.

Mike Naylor's half-century and Andy Cummings's five-wicket haul helped Horspath 4th to a crushing 129-run home win over Bicester & North Oxford 2nd in Division 7.

Naylor hit nine fours in his 52, before Luke Heritage (43no) and Paul Hicks (31no) took Horspath to 209-6 off 45 overs. There were also handy contributions from John Perkins (24) and David Wells (23).

Cummings (5-23) and Trevor Spindler (4-28) then shot Bicester out for 80, with Adam Gould (36) providing the only resistance. Victory takes Horspath up to second spot.
