HORSPATH 2nd's Jehan Mohammed hit a brilliant unbeaten maiden Cherwell League century before rain washed out the Division 2 game against Oxford 2nd at the Oxford University Press Sports Ground.
Jehan batted superbly to make 126 not out from 142 balls, with 16 fours, to take Horspath to 248-8 off 50 overs. He shared in a second-wicket stand of 118 with opener Jamie Stead (48), before going on to reach his ton by pulling a boundary through mid-wicket. Arthur Muir was Oxford's most successful bowler with 5-47. The hosts had reached 56-1 off 14.3 overs with Andy Cummings taking the only wicket to fall when the heavens opened.
Horspath 3rd bizarrely picked up fewer points than visitors Cumnor 2nd despite being well on top when their Division 5 game was washed out. Ceri Holmes's devastating opening burst of 4-24 reduced Cumnor to 38-5 in reply to Horspath's 166 all out, before the match was abandoned.
Earlier, Holmes had made 32 in Horspath's innings, while Stu Berry (36) and Faizan Abbas (29) also chipped in as Joe Clayton took 3-39. But despite having the upper hand, Horspath picked up eight points to Cumnor's ten.
Horspath 4th had restricted hosts Wolverton Town 2nd to 139-7 off 41 overs in Division 7 when their game was abandoned due to rain.
