Horspath 2nd slip to one-wicket defeat

HORSPATH 2nd were unable to stop Cropredy's last pair inflicting a one-wicket home defeat in Cherwell League Division 2.

Defending 186-9 after being put in to bat, Horspath looked to be closing in on victory when they took Cropredy's ninth wicket with the visitors on 160. But James Coleman had other ideas, hitting an unbeaten 46 to see Cropredy home at 189-9 with 2.5 overs to spare, while last man Patrick Somerton stood firm to finish undefeated on one.

Ryan Hicks (3-10) and Mohson Rana (3-33) had led the way for Horspath, while there was a wicket apiece in tidy spells from Asad Rafiq, Jehan Mohammed and Andy Cummings. Opener Saim Hussain (44) and Thomas Bunting (31) were also in the runs for Cropredy.

Earlier, opener Jamie Stead (40) top-scored for Horspath, while Rafiq (26), Tom Beresford (24), Dom O'Connor (23) and Jehan (20) all got in without going on to make significant contributions as the innings fell away with Somerton picking up 3-27 and Coleman 2-40. The defeat leaves Horspath in seventh place.
