Eason's unbeaten 97 proves in vain for Horspath 2nd

Robbie Eason 97*
ROBBIE Eason's unbeaten 97 couldn't save Horspath 2nd from a three-wicket home defeat by Great Brickhill in their Cherwell League Division 1 mid-table clash. Eason's knock helped Horspath post 227-6 after they had been put in to bat, as Joey Todd weighed in with 41. But it wasn't enough as Brickhill secured victory at 228-7 with Hayden Symmonds unbeaten on 87.

Ceri Holmes (4-22) and Stuart Berry (3-12) did the damage as Horspath 3rd shot out second-placed Abingdon Vale for 101 at Hales Meadow to set up a six-wicket win in Division 5. The home side never got going after electing to bat, and the visitors were able to coast to victory at 102-4.

Promising youngster Alfie Turner produced another mature batting display to help Horspath 4th to a draw at home to Cublington 2nd in Division 7. The Oxfordshire Under 12s captain made an unbeaten 30 as Horspath closed on 132-7, with Hayden Moon hammering 40, after Cublington had posted 167-7 on being put in to bat. Trevor Spindler took 3-33 in the Cublington innings, while there were also two wickets for Steve Richardson as Steve Godfrey (45) and Chris Baines (42) made runs for the hosts.
