Biggs leads way in Horspath 2nd's victory

Captain Jack Biggs - 53
CAPTAIN Jack Biggs hit a sparkling half-century as Horspath 2nd recorded an excellent four-wicket win at Cumnor in Cherwell League Division 1.

Biggs made 53 off 44 balls, including two sixes and seven fours, in Horspath's 204-6 after they had bowled the hosts out for 203 after putting them in to bat. There were also handy contributions by Joey Todd (31), Mark Skelton (27) and Dan Todd (25), before Tom King (22no) and Asad Rafiq saw the visitors home.

Earlier, Skelton had been the most successful Horspath wicket-taker with 4-59, while there were economical spells from Ed Oakley and Andy Cummings as Callum Russell (37) and Joe Dale (36) led the way for Cumnor.

Dan Jones hit an unbeaten 63 to steer Horspath 3rd to a four-wicket win at home to Leighton Buzzard 2nd in Division 5. Jones, whose knock included several impressive straight drives, was given good support by Adeel Rehman as Horspath clinched victory at 211-6 after the visitors had been bowled out for 207 on being put in to bat.

Dan's father, Chris, had shone earlier with 45, while Adeel was completing a fine all-round game after taking 4-56 in the Buzzard innings.

Derek Watts compiled a half-century before Horspath 4th suffered a massive collapse in an eight-wicket defeat at second-placed Sandford St Martin 2nd in Division 7. Watts, well supported by Mike Naylor (28), made 60 from 115 balls with eight fours to take Horspath to 140-2 after being put in to bat.

But then they lost their last eight wickets for just 16 runs to be 156 all out, with Jim Howe (6-26) wreaking havoc. Sandford opener Paul Tanner smashed 52 off 45 balls with nine fours, before Michael Chapman (45no) and Nathan Sellwood (38no) saw the hosts home at 158-2 off 22.4 overs.
