SUNDAY friendly cricket made a welcome return to Horspath last weekend for the first time this season when Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts were the visitors. Organised by Robbie Eason, the game provided the opportunity for valuable time out in the middle for a number of the club's batsmen as well as giving a chance to some of the promising youngsters to show their talents.
Horspath rattled up an impressive 275-5 from their 40 overs with Dom O'Connor making 83 retired, including a six and 13 fours. Jack Biggs hit four sixes and five fours in his 54, while Tyrone Eyles cracked a six and seven fours in an unbeaten 50. He shared a lively sixth-wicket stand with Robbie, who finished on 38 not out.
Ryan Hicks (2-17) and Tyrone (1-3) impressed at the start of Nondies' reply, before young George Horsley (3-49) got in on the act, and with Gareth Hamilton also picking up a rare wicket, the visitors were bowled out for 146 to leave Horspath winners by 129 runs. Alam Mohammed, Jehan's brother, top-scored for Nondies with 35.
