Rafiq and Faruq star in Horspath 2nd's demolition job

 HORSPATH 2nd bounced back to winning ways in stunning fashion with a seven-wicket demolition job of leaders Dinton in Cherwell League Division 1 at the Recreation Ground. Asad Rafiq (4-20) did the early damage before Jamil Faruq (4-11) polished off the innings as Dinton were shot out for 87 after being put in to bat.

Akheam Fox then made 31 as Horspath cruised to 88-3. The resounding win takes the team up four places to fifth spot.

Horspath 3rd were left to rue a missed opportunity as they fell two runs short of victory in a exciting draw at home to Chearsley in Division 5. Chasing Chearsley's 153-9 after putting the visitors in to bat, the hosts looked on course for victory after Jason Cardy hit 39 with three sixes and four boundaries and Luke Finch weighed in with 30. But, needing seven off the last over, they were unable to get over the line, finishing on 152-8.

Earlier, Andy Cummings had shone with the ball in Chearsley's innings, taking 3-28, while there were two wickets apiece for Adeel Rehman and Stuart Berry. Matt Ricketts starred for Chearsley with 52, before taking 3-21.

Horspath 4th slipped to an eight-wicket defeat at leaders Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts 2nd in their Division 7 top-of-the-table battle. Adam Thompson hit a fine 60 and Mike Naylor 41 as Horspath posted 153-7, Rustum Rabani taking 5-39. But it wasn't enough as Nondies cruised to 154-2 with Andy Haynes hitting 59 and Toukeer Ahmed 44 not out. Despite the defeat, Horspath stay second in the table.
