Stead slams super century for Horspath 2nd

NEW recruit Jamie Stead hit a splendid century before Horspath 2nd's Cherwell League Division 1 game at Twyford was washed out by rain. Stead, who has joined the club from Berkshire League side Mortimer West End, made 114 as Horspath posted 213-8 from their 53 overs when the game was abandoned. It continued his excellent start to the season after he hammered 77 in the opening day win at Great Brickhill.

Horspath 3rd were left to rue the bad weather after bowling out visitors Banbury 3rd for 102 in Division 5. Chris Fox (4-17) and Stuart Berry (3-38) did the damage, before rain forced the game to be abandoned.

Horspath 4th may have been indebted to the elements, though, after they slipped to 110 all out at Aston Rowant 4th in Division 7 despite the efforts of Derek Watts (44). Geraint Hughes (5-27) did most of the damage for Rowant, who were denied the opportunity to bat by rain.
