U-15s Get Under and Away

After having their fixtures against Thame, Aston Rowant and Oxford fall victim to the weather and then enduring a free week; the U-15 season finally commenced last night with Horspath narrowly defeating Warborough by 10 runs. Sam Saunders with 4 – 6 made short work of the Horspath top order but a spirited stand between Naqash Saleem 37* and Harry Groves 23 restored Horspath’s fortunes and allowed them to post a below par 89-6 in the 20 overs.

However excellent opening spells by Ross Handley and Matthew Henderson put Warborough on the back foot and secured three early wickets. Naqash and Waqas’s brother then bowled tight overs putting Warborough behind the clock. As the pressure on the batsmen grew good fielding saw three Warborough batsmen run out with them finishing up 10 runs short with six wickets down.
